Don't Like Playing God (3:08)
Tired resident and somber nurse,
Sunken faces, they had come to say the worst,
Of slipped disks, malignant pain,
Hardly a life remains,
Reflecting, I look up and meet their eyes.
But I don’t like playing God,
When they look to me for the nod,
Morphine they say
Is a peaceful way to go.
Will I have to let him pass,
To see my mom at last,
With her arms open wide,
Will she give me the nod?
I don’t like, I don’t like playing God.
Flashback to comic books he’d bring to me,
From his suitcase, how happy I would be,
Now swallowing is just a chore,
Needs to cough up even more,
He has no desire to stay around.
There’s no escaping this responsibility,
All the family now looks to me.
